The school of hard knocks is now part of Georgetown University’s curriculum. Professor and hip hop laureate Michael Eric Dyson will lead a Sociology course about the life and times of Jay-Z.
In an interview with MTV, Dyson explains the hip-hop mogul’s enormous impact:
“Jay-Z is one of the greatest entrepreneurs of the world today. Not only is he a remarkable rhetorical genius, he’s also a man of deep sympathy and empathy for those who are lost and vulnerable, but especially under-educated youth of all culture and stripes.”
Students will explore Jay-Z’s musical and cultural influences with study tools ranging from his book Decoded, to the 2004 concert documentary Fade To Black.
