Alicia Keys & Beyonce Smash MSG: “Put It In A Love Song” First Time Live

Freedom is tatooed on my heart…

I witnessed history last night as the two titans known as Miss Keys and Bey shared one stage. As a surprise, Beyonce joined Alicia for “Put It In A Love Song,” at MSG. This was the first time the two performed the song live together. It’s a blur of hyperventilated excitement, and a moment I’ll never forget. And then Jay-Z came out for the “Empire State of Mind” finale. Well, we all know how I feel about him.

Is it possible to be forever changed by a concert? Last night Alicia really captured all the elements of freedom. As she played her piano, images of JFK, Rosa Parks, and Ghandi illuminated the screen above her. Perhaps the most meaningful moment of the night for me, was Martin Luther King, Jr.’s image joined with the words “Fear Less.”

Yes, I think a concert can change you.

Forever electrified, forever free.
