It can be about the performance…
Academy Award winner Mo’Nique. Sounds great, doesn’t it? Precious was a movie I didn’t want to see, but I saw it. Push was a book that was so difficult to read, but I finished it. I am fortunate to turn off the movie, or close the book. That’s an option many don’t have.
Claireece “Precious” Jones is a person we pass every day. She sits next to us on the subway. She walks next to us on the street. She’s a CEO, a doctor, lawyer, daughter, and friend.
Mo’Nique’s performance in Precious was soul chilling. It makes your bones shiver, and your heart wrenches for a young girl with no one. She plays the role of an abusive mother, but in your heart you can’t hate her, because her rage is from her own deeply rooted pain.
She now takes her place in Academy Awards history. We salute you, Mo’Nique.
