Grammy Recap: Beyonce Breaks Record

Football fans are anticipating a famous Sunday coming up next week, but for me, Grammy night is my Superbowl. The biggest artists were all in the same place last night, celebrating the year’s best in music.

The always daring and dynamically dope Lady Gaga took the stage. Lady Gaga blew up Elton John. Beyonce brought Alanis “You Oughta Know” to her “If I Were A Boy” performance. Only she can channel Alanis and dutty wine at the same time.

Michael Jackson’s children Prince and Paris accepted the Lifetime Achievement award on his behalf. Viewers were treated to a 3D version of “Earth Song,” and Michael was joined by Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Usher, Smokey Robinson, and Carrie Underwood. The message of the song is unbelievable.

Mary J Blige joined Andrea Bocelli for a stellar rendition of “Bridge Over A Troubled Water.” The song will be sold on iTunes and all proceeds will go to Haiti relief.
Drake, Emimem, and Lil Wayne closed the show with “Drop The World” and “Forever,” with Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker on the drums.

Beyonce dominated the awards, winning six Grammy’s to add to her collection, more than any woman in a single night in the history of the show. Kings Of Leon’s “Use Somebody” won Record of the Year. Taylor Swift won Album of the Year, taking a total of four awards home to Nashvile.

It was a night of great diverse music.

Now on to that other super Sunday. šŸ™‚
