Eminem: “Relapse: Refill”

What’s my name? Shady came and crushed the game…

Eminem has been a man of few words in 2009, yet he’s responsible for the greatest verse of the year. He torched through “Forever,” alongside Drake and Lil Wayne, and he left the track scorching. In this overly cluttered era of mixtapes and leaked tracks, Em chose not to oversaturate. When he spit he made it count, and he doesn’t waste a bar.

The Refill tracks are made up of the missed Em and Dre formula and lyrical decapitations. He muses on his level of success on “Elevators,” and orchestrates chainsaw massacres on “Buffalo Bill.” He takes it to the creepiest level on the twisted Jack the Ripper tale on “Music Box.”

The curious and sometimes cringeworthy world of Marshall Mathers. Hate him or love him, it’s hard to deny that he’s ridiculously talented.
