And the point of it all…

Anthony Hamilton
I can’t stay away too long…

The benefit of listening to the grown folks’ soul station at work is that I get to hear this little gem throughout the day. It makes me smile every time. Anthony Hamilton has flown under the radar his entire career as soul’s best kept secret, but he is the male equivalent of Mary J. Blige. They both have the ability to make you miss someone you haven’t even met yet. I can almost picture the woman he’s singing about on “The Point of It All.” He induces chills and sings with such feeling that you can almost feel the love for his lady in every note. There are no vocal acrobatics—he doesn’t need them. Instead he’s accompanied by a simple melody and a rhythmic hand clap.

Yet again, Anthony Hamilton reminds us that the best love songs (and love for that matter) are the simple ones.
